The MetrOasis LLC Beauty School & Advanced Training Center Hairdressing students benefit from small class sizes, daily theory classes (except Saturdays), and a clinic floor that is run much more like a salon than a school. Six weeks of basic cosmetology training enable the students to learn the foundational skills necessary to work on the clinic floor with our clientele.

Once a student earns their way onto the floor, instructors continue to assist the students one-on-one to fine-tune their skills and learn new, more advanced techniques. Our students will gain the confidence to provide a variety of haircutting styles that include classic European techniques, condensed cutting, creative clipper and razor cutting methods, and more.

 

We use only the highest quality Italian hair colors and bleaches and teach product formulation as well as application techniques to bring out the artist in each student. Our perming education enables our students to think creatively when retexturizing their hair. Our graduates have continued on as platform artists, educators, salon owners, and managers.

 

Many now work in high-end spas and salons where the owners recognize the talent of these new stylists and call us up wanting more of our graduates. Like the Sassoon, ad says “If you donʼt look good, we donʼt look good!” We take joy in training our students to the best of our ability so they can go out and make us proud.

Hairdresser Completion Requirements
The State of Alaska Board of Barbers and Hairdressers requires
completion of a minimum of 1650 hours and fulfill required practical
applications (listed below) to qualify an applicant to take the state board exam. In addition, MetrOasis requires its hairdressing students to complete the MetrOasis bluebook prior to the completion of the program.  Students must complete both the practical workbook and the theory workbook and have passing scores (75%) on all tests.

We typically accept one hairdressing student every three months. As our calendar includes Spring Break, Summer Break, Fall Break, Christmas Break, and Thanksgiving Day, it takes hairdressing students about one full year to complete our program.
